ChatGPT is Worth all the Buzz
ChatGPT – it’s all the buzz lately and rightly so! This AI tool is revolutionizing the way we interact with technology. Used correctly, it can help your organization be more efficient and effective. I even use it in my personal life! There’s so much available information on it, but keep reading for my quick personal guide to get you started.
What is ChatGPT anyway?
ChatGPT is an AI chatbot created by OpenAI, released in November 2022. It is designed to understand and generate human-like text. It has been trained to grasp the nuances of language and provide intelligent responses to a wide range of inquiries. There are free versions and paid versions available, but many find the free version meets their needs!
How do I use it?
I created a short video for you to see it in action with an example of how your organization might use it. First, view my video below. Then, go to chat.openai.com to create your own account and get started.
Helpful Tips
Read these to help you get the most out of it.
- Fact check. It’s an AI tool trained to write a response to your query, so if it doesn’t have the correct information, it will still write an answer…but doesn’t mean it’s correct! Make sure you fact check or you will lose credibility.
- Give as much information as possible! The more information, the better!
- Ask questions and give feedback. Think of talking to an expert about something. For example, “I don’t understand. Can you use simpler language?” “Make it catchy” or “give me more examples along the lines of…”
- Regenerate responses. You can click “Regenerate Response” and it will give you a different answer, but it will delete the old one. If you like the answer but just want a couple things changed, rather than regenerate the response, tell it to change the specifics you don’t like.
- Remember it’s a computer. Although it’s trained to write like a human, it will never fully grasp your tone or nuances and does not fully know your audience. You still need the human touch when editing results.
- Use it to start content, but add your own tone to keep it personal. ChatGPT is great for the “blank page” block we all start with when writing something, but I’ve found it best to always edit with my own language.
Incorporating ChatGPT into your organization’s work can save you time, offer personalized assistance, improve communication with donors, volunteers and clients, and take so much stress out of writing content. Try it out today. The more you use it, the better you learn to leverage it.
