Bethany Christian Church

Bethany Christian Church served the Houston community for over 110 years.

The Challenge

Bethany didn’t just want to close their church, they wanted to leave a lasting mark. But a spreadsheet of donation amounts couldn’t capture the depth of their impact or the spirit behind this final act of generosity. They needed a way to honor their past, celebrate their mission partners, and share this story with their congregation and the wider community in a meaningful and permanent way.

The Solution

Solace Media created a 15-minute documentary-style video capturing the heart of Bethany’s legacy. We interviewed church leaders, members, volunteers, and mission partners, weaving their voices with historic photos and meaningful visuals. The video became the emotional centerpiece of Bethany’s final gathering and was used to unveil their legacy plan and celebrate the incredible impact of their gifts.

Alongside the video, we built a custom Squarespace landing page to ensure Bethany’s story lives on. The site features:

  • A written history of the church
  • Lots of archival photos
  • A timeline of leadership and key milestones
  • Mission partner profiles and gift details
  • The full legacy video and press release

The Results

When the video played during one of Bethany’s final Sundays together, there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. The congregation felt honored. The mission partners felt celebrated. And the broader community now has a permanent place to witness the enduring generosity of a small church that gave everything they had to their community.

Let's write your success story.

When their congregation grew older and smaller, the church made a bold decision: to sell their historic building and give every dollar away. They distributed $14.375 million to eight hand-selected nonprofit partners, with additional gifts to 23 community organizations and the creation of a $7.5 million fund for future giving. Bethany came to Solace Media to help tell this story with the reverence and clarity it deserved. What could a story-driven video and digital presence do for your church or foundation? What could be possible for your organization?
